Meet the Guides at Sonoma Zipline Adventures
Aside from the thrilling experience of riding ziplines through the beautiful Redwood Forest, your Sonoma Zipline Adventure guides provide your human connection as you journey through the unique ecosystem. Our corporate event coordinators and experienced guides give their all so you can enjoy an inspiring adventure during your visit.
Who will be my Tour’s Guides?
Our staff includes more than three dozen experienced, certified zipline instructors who serve as our tour guides. When you start your tour, your group will be matched with two zipline guides: a Lead Guide and a Sweep Guide. Their responsibilities include training you, the participant, to ride the ziplines, ensuring the equipment is working properly, and sharing their knowledge of the remarkable Redwood Forest.
What is a Lead Guide?
The Lead Guide’s job is fairly explanatory in the name itself: they are in charge of getting your tour group through the zipline course. The Lead Guide does most of the talking, explaining the course and handling security training while sharing their knowledge of the Redwoods with your group. Additionally, the lead guide assesses risks on the course. If your lead guide has any doubts about weather or equipment conditions, they will take appropriate actions to ensure everyone’s security. Additionally, if someone gets stuck or needs help on the lines, it’s the Lead Guide’s job to help out.
What is a Sweep Guide?
While the Lead Guide manages the tour from the front, the Sweep Guide handles things from the back. While the Sweep Guide is a bit less concerned about being the entertainment talent on your tour, their job is just as important as the Lead Guide’s. The Sweep Guide conducts final security checks on every participant before they launch on the zipline and ensures the group stays together.
What is the ACCT?
ACCT International is an international trade association that is a leading standards developer for the Challenge Course industry, a broader category of entertainment experiences that includes ziplines, climbing walls, balance beams, and other obstacle-based experiences. Every course at Sonoma Zipline Adventures either matches ACCT professional standards. Additionally, our Lead Guides and Sweep Guides are extensively trained to uphold all ACCT standards and guidelines.
Our Guides Review Well
Don’t take our word for it when you can hear about the amazing high-bar experience our guides create from actual customer reviews. As of January 2026, SZA has a 98% recommendation rate on Facebook and a 4.8 average score from more than 850 customers on Google Reviews. Regardless of how amazing the zipline courses are designed and how naturally beautiful the Redwoods are, those industry-leading review scores belong to our zipline guides.
